Christi Crux Est Mea Lux (Christ's Cross Is My Light) got its name from one of Elizabeth's family crests. Begun as a hymn, the main theme mirrors the tonalities of sprituals which she often heard as a child. The more lively middle section represents the happy childhood days with musical hints of her Scottish and Irish origins, with American musical tonalities. It gradually drifts into a reflective, more solemn mode before the return of the main theme. The work is dedicated to the composer's sisters, Rebecca and Katherine. The piece was presented as part of Elizabeth's final examination requirements at the Royal Carillon School, Mechelen, Belgium, in June 2016.
