La fille aux cheveux de lin, roughly translating to "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" is an Impressionistic piano prelude by Claude Debussy written around 1909–1910. It is named after a poem by Leconte de Lisle. Using the pentatonic scale and folk-like harmony, he conjures up images of a girl with golden hair in a pastoral setting in Scotland. The piece is one of Debussy's most famous and was a divergence from his usual style at the time.
