The minuets in G major and G minor from the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach were long attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach. However, it was established in the late 1970s that Anna Magdalena copied these minuets into her notebook from music by Christian Petzold. The minuets are written for harpsichord and are suitable for beginners on piano. As such, they are among the best known pieces of music literature in the world.
