Strauss polkas, like Strauss waltzes, are not single-themed works, but rather "chains" of short themes. It was easy to consider this light-hearted polka chain as a "daisy chain," and from there it was easy to imagine a title of "Stokrotki" ... the Polish word for "daisies."
This duet for three-octave carillon is about five minutes long. It features pedal work for both parts, including an accelerating pedals-only passage midway through. Despite numerous "close calls," the piece avoids the composer's signature crossing of hands.
