Triskaphobia, meaning the fear of the number three, was as the composed as the concluding work for a recital in which the number three was avoided as much as possible. This is reflected in the piece, which relies heavily on intervals of fourths and fifths in the harmony, and on chromatic intervals in the melody. It is intended to evoke the "phobia" aspect of its title through its alarmed and panicky character. Accordingly, it should be played as fast as is comfortably possible for the performer.
