Valse Triste (Sad Waltz) was written in August 2020 for the 2021 Franco Composition Competition of The Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. It was conceived as a soft dance of a soul shrouded in the mist of memory. First melancholy, then thoughtful, and finally fading away, it can be likened to the gentle tones of a carillon disappearing into the night breeze.
